Samus Aran was sent to the lab on planet SR388 to investigate what happened to the biological research team after contact was lost. Upon arrival, the station was silent — no people, only ruins. Soon after beginning her search, Samus was attacked by a Hornoad. Moments later, an amorphous life‑form known as the X Parasite invaded her body, severely damaging her nervous system and suit.
After emergency surgery and the injection of a special vaccine, Samus survives — but weakened. Immune to the X Parasite, she can now absorb it to restore health and gain power. Yet the mystery of SR388 remains: where did the X Parasite come from, and who is responsible?
Metroid Fusion blends shooting, exploration, and puzzle‑solving. The research station is divided into interconnected sectors linked by elevators, security doors, and hidden passages. Players explore, destroy obstacles, and unlock new abilities to progress through increasingly dangerous areas.
To survive, Samus must defeat bosses to unlock Data Rooms and absorb Core‑X, granting new powers. The game introduces the Fusion Suit — a powerful armor upgrade crafted from rare elements scattered throughout the map.
Later, Samus encounters SA‑X, a terrifying clone and the ultimate predator. Though an enemy, it ultimately becomes the key to defeating the final threat: Omega Metroid — the only creature vulnerable to the Ice Beam Samus does not possess.
